Singers sought by youth choir

Have you ever noticed how singing can totally change your attitude?

Have you ever noticed how singing can totally change your attitude?

Embolden you to do something you were scared to do? Put a smile on your face in the middle of a bad time? Calm you? Delight you?

Music is powerful and making music yourself is empowering in profound ways. And while everyone can do with some empowerment, children can especially benefit from the experience of music-making.

Singing in a choir is a great way to begin. Do you know a child who loves to sing? Why not join a community of young singers and see what happens?

Now’s the time: the Comox Valley Children’s Choir is recruiting young singers for the new term, beginning next week. Two choirs will be offered, geared to younger (Grades 1 to 3) and older (Grades 4 to 6) singers, both rehearsing on Thursdays at Mark Isfeld.

Rehearsals are high-energy and provide young singers with basic vocal skills, musical sensitivity, performance experience, and the chance to be part of a vibrant musical community. Singers will be challenged and rise to that challenge — that’s what music can do.

Registration information is available online on the Comox Valley Children’s Choir website: www.cvcchoir.shawwebspace.ca.
