Some bluegrass from Backporch

This Saturday, local bluegrass and oldtime band Backporch Banjo are back at the Zocalo Café.

This Saturday, local bluegrass and oldtime band Backporch Banjo are back at the Zocalo Café.

Last seen In December, the band is back with a fresh, harmony-rich sound featuring fiddler Ted Granger as well as familiar faces from the backporch: Linda Thorburn on banjo, Bob Slater on guitar, banjo and vocals, and Kazimea Sokil on mandolin, banjo and vocals.

The band’s repertoire ranges from hard-driving bluegrass to foot-stomping old time with an occasional ballad and original song thrown in.

Zocalo is an all-ages, licensed venue with a great menu. (And kids love this music, too!).

The show starts April 21 at the Zocalo at 7 p.m. Admission is by donation.
