Performing at Tarbell’s Coffee Bar in Cumberland on May 13 are two of Vancouver Island’s favourite songstresses — Birgit Kuit and Joanna Finch.

Finch and Kuit have been longtime friends for more than 15 years and have shared many a stage and musical project, from performances at Vancouver Island Music Festival to Cumberland’s Community Forest’s Rhythm and Green CD compilation project.

They will feature original and contemporary folk-roots and jazz music that will be sure to delight. Kuit and Finch share their love for the beauty of nature, which is reflected in their songs.

Finch shines onstage. She is a well-known eclectic Comox Valley singer-songwriter who is a versatile and prolific composer. With stirring lyrics and catchy melodies, she writes songs that have been described as tender, saucy and timeless.

In the Arms of Morpehus, Finch’s debut solo album released in December 2005, was awarded Best Album of the Year by the Comox Valley Record and garnered two nominations by the Vancouver Island Independent Music Awards.

Birgit, who is becoming well-known to the Comox Valley music scene, is also no stranger to the stage.

With three CDs under her belt and a fourth on the way, Birgit’s music has been described as “refreshing and engaging quality with her folky country influence groove. A big voice and rich tonal qualities are the earmarks of this natural singer.” — The Eye, eYe Internet Radio.

The show starts May 13 at 8 p.m. Come for dinner at 6:30.

Seating is limited and reservations are recommended. Call 250-336-8863.
