Do you have a 9-14-year-old interested in getting into B.C.’s film and television industry?
Catch the wave with this high energy, action-packed workshop presented by Allyson Leet and Katie Clarkson of Sitka Stage and Screen. Join these talented and dynamic young women for an introduction to the exciting field of television and film March 18-22 at the Comox Rec Centre.
Leet earned a bachelor of fine arts in theatre from the University of Victoria and a diploma in acting for film and television from the prestigious Vancouver Film School. She has worked on a variety of television series including Wayward Pines and Riverdale.
After spending the past year representing Canada at Walt Disney World in Florida , Leet is thrilled to be back on the Island sharing her bubbly personality and enthusiasm for her craft with a new group of up and coming young actors.
Clarkson specializes in fine art and headshot photography and her work has been featured in Shutter Magazine and on several music albums. Also a talented videographer, she has been on the production team for a variety of music videos from Abu Dhabi to Edinburgh. Skilled at working with children of all ages, Katie’s calm and patient nature sets her subjects at ease and her artistic eye produces stunning results.
Both young women are well known in the Valley and have been members of the thriving theatre community for many years on stage and directing as well as in a variety of backstage roles.
Sitka Stage and Screen’s Spring Break Workshop will have young actors building skills through a variety of collaborative exercises, warm-ups, learning camera lingo and terminology, filming on-camera introductions, acting for commercials, audition etiquette, character development, recognizing your type, camera work and short scenes. At the end of the week, participants will go home with a flash drive containing their work from the week, including on-camera introduction, commercial demo, acting exercises and a professional headshot.
The workshop runs from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. daily, March 18-22 at the Comox Rec Centre. Cost for the workshop is
