The Gardens on Anderton recently received a new wheelchair accessible pathway, thanks to a grant from the Comox Valley Community Foundation.
The old gravel pathway was replaced with a new stone pathway, leading to the Gardens' wheelchair accessible toilet.
Earlier this year, Anderton Therapeutic Gardens Society received a $3,790 grant from CVCF, which was used to complete the new pathway. Members of CVCF recently attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Gardens on Anderton.
"We were very pleased to have Andrea Rowe, the Chair of Comox Valley Community Foundation, and Director Barbara Kelm, join us for the ribbon-cutting celebration and a tour of the Gardens," said ATGS Vice President, Thea Miller. "The funding CVCF provided for this project is very important for the Gardens and we are very grateful for their contribution.
"With our new wheelchair accessible pathway to the toilet, visitors, members, and volunteers who need the facilities will be able to access them very easily. In addition, the pathway is critical to ATGS's ability to raise funds to operate the Gardens, which come largely from people visiting and attending special events held there. About a thousand people come to the Gardens each summer and we want to make sure everyone can enjoy it."
