Cumberland photograper offers new look on usual scenes

In an exploration of epiphanies based around the concept of seeing the light both literally and in a more metaphorical sense, Cumberland photographer Ron Pogue displays a collection of his work, opening New Year’s Eve.

His Photographs exhibition at Tarbell’s Cafe in Cumberland offers images that deal with symbolic visions existing within everyday life, simple objects and places imbued with the spirit of the light.

The opening reception runs from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. Dec. 31, and there is no charge for admission. The exhibit runs for the month of January.

Ron Pogue has studied photography since childhood, through high school and college, and has received a bachelors degree in photography from Emily Carr University.

He is currently photographing the fading of old Cumberland, an ongoing documentation for a book project, and seeking other opportunities to make his photographs available to a wider audience and encompass a larger global perspective.
