Join Comox Valley poet laureate, Natalie Nickerson, at the Courtenay branch of Vancouver Island Regional Library on Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. for a Raise-A-Reader Week writer’s workshop that explores the light as it shines on the Canadian Landscape.

Whether you grew up in Canada or not, Nickerson will guide you toward creating a poem about the Canadian Landscape.

All poems with connections to Canada have the opportunity to be entered in a contest curated by VIRL in collaboration with Nanaimo poet laureate, Tina Biello.

VIRL’s goal is to choose one poem from each of the 39 branches and fill an anthology to commemorate Canada’s 150th.

The completed anthology will be printed on the book machine in the Creativity Commons at Nanaimo Harbourfront branch and form part of the library’s permanent collection. S
