Sept. 10th from 7 to 10 p.m., big band wartime music will fill the hall at the Courtenay Legion.

Upbeat dances during wartime created with lights, music and good company made everyone forget for a brief time the austerity and the danger of the war. These dances set the tempo for a great night of glamour and the enjoyment of meeting up with others in a friendly and fun atmosphere.

Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy with eight to the bar set the tempo to get everyone ‘in the mood’ and all ages will enjoy this magical 1940’s style event.

This wartime dance is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Courtenay and funds raised will go to Kiwanis community activities and the HMCS Alberni Museum and Memorial.

Tickets are available for $20 each at Square 1 Travel & Cruise on 5th Street or at the HMCS Alberni Museum and Memorial on Cliffe Avenue. Prize for best wartime dress, light refreshments and a bar will add to your evening of big band music provided by Les Affaires Band and vocalist Jaqueline Lambeth.
