RCMP are asking for witnesses to come forward following a fatal motor vehicle crash late Sunday night on Denman Island.

Cpl. Tori Cliffe of the Comox Valley RCMP confirmed the incident happened around 10:30 p.m. on the 3800 block of Denman Road.

The 37-year-old male driver - a Denman Island resident - was declared deceased on scene. RCMP noted speed appears to have been a factor in the collision.

The incident is still under investigation with the assistance of the British Columbia Coroners Service and the Vancouver Island Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service.

Cliffe added if any witnesses saw the incident or were at the scene afterwards, to call Comox Valley RCMP at 250-338-1321 and cite file number 2017-12448. RCMP have not released any further details on the make or model of the vehicle.
