Born and raised in the Comox Valley, Edwin Grieve brings a deep sense of community and an unparalleled commitment to service in his bid for re-election as Comox Valley Regional District director for Area C.
A lifetime of involvement in his beloved Comox Valley has brought Edwin recognition. He has been awarded Freedom of the City of Courtenay, received the North Island College President’s Merit Award and the Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.
Edwin’s motto of “working with people” proved a valuable asset as the CVRD worked through a provincially mandated Regional Growth Strategy that was based on principals of “smart growth.” The RGS directed urban development to the already-serviced municipal centres, allowing the rural areas to remain rural.
He was elected vice-chair twice and chair four times by his peers on the CVRD board.
Edwin’s leadership skills are evident as, this year, he was elected president of the Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities. He also sits on the board of the Union of BC Municipalities as well as the Municipal Finance Authority. Edwin is only one of three people in BC to ever achieve level three certification from the Local Government Leadership Academy.
“I am asking the citizens of Area C for their vote,” said Grieve. “I feel it is important to continue the momentum into the next few years and bring to fruition many initiatives I have been working on together with the people of Puntledge-Black Creek.”
