Director Linda Oprica has been promoted to chair of the Comox Valley Airport Commission (CVAC).Oprica’s appointment is for a term of two years. She takes over the position from Brad Minton, who has held the title since March 2011. “I thank Brad for his hard work as head of this board and I am pleased he will continue to serve as a director for CVAC,” said Oprica. “I look forward to working with the Board and I am very optimistic about what lies ahead for the Commission and our airport.”Oprica has five years of experience as a CVAC director and extensive leadership experience as a business and executive coach. She is also the past president of the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of Cumberland Centennial and the Comox Valley Women's Business Network, the latter naming her Woman of the Year in 2002.In addition to Oprica’s appointment, CVAC also announces the following changes:• Director Scott Tory has been appointed treasurer. Scott brings extensive business acumen to the role with experience overseeing multi-million dollar contracts. He takes over the position from Darlene Neuman, whose term is ending in July 2012. • The role of vice-chair, previously served by Christine Gibson, is vacant following her resignation. She was a member at large and the board is considering its next steps in seeking a replacement.The Comox Valley Airport Commission is the governing authority for the operation of the Comox Valley Airport. The nine-member Commission is broadly representative of the Comox Valley community.
