With two new board members set to join, the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual general meeting April 23.
The AGM is set for 5:30 p.m. at 40 Knots Winery (2400 Anderton Rd.) and is open to its members and stakeholders to participate.
Following a recruiting campaign, the CVCC will welcome Mike Atkins and Lara Austin to join the current governance board.
The CVCC is dedicated to fostering growth, prosperity, and collaboration among its members. The board of directors plays a pivotal role in driving the chamber’s strategic direction and ensuring the effective governance necessary for its success.
Members of the board represent the collective interests of the chamber’s membership and are entrusted with overseeing its operations and initiatives.
The effectiveness of the Chamber is intricately tied to the caliber of its leadership, and board members are encouraged to embody qualities such as: a deep understanding of the chamber’s mission and a commitment to advancing its objectives; familiarity with the economic landscape of the Comox Valley, British Columbia and Canada; a proven track record of leadership and advocacy; strong entrepreneurial skills and a strategic mindset; proficiency in financial management and risk assessment; critical thinking abilities and a dedication to upholding ethical standards; collaboration and teamwork skills, essential for effective governance and a history of community engagement and contribution.
The AGM serves as a pivotal moment for the chamber’s membership to convene, review the past year’s achievements, and chart the course for the future.
Key agenda items include the approval of minutes, financial statements review, operations report and the election and installation of new directors. Members are encouraged to attend and participate actively in shaping the Chamber’s trajectory.
