Local residents can hear about the Vancouver Island Health Authority’s proposal to build new hospitals in the Comox Valley and Campbell River at the end of this month.

The Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) board of directors is holding its regular general board meeting Jan. 26 at 12:15 p.m. at the Best Western Plus The Westerly Hotel and Convention Centre in Courtenay.

The board will conduct its regular business, and there will be a presentation by VIHA staff on North Island Health Services.

There will be a limited amount of time set aside during the meeting for scheduled presentations from the public — for which the deadline for requests has already passed — and to respond to questions from the floor regarding the staff presentation.

An open house will be held immediately following the general board meeting, giving people a chance to speak to VIHA directors and senior management staff members.
