Aspen Grove Children’s Centre is the latest Comox Valley child care facility to become a $10 a Day ChildCareBC site.
Aspen Grove will offer 28 child care spaces at dramatically reduced fees for parents.
“Having child care that is local, trusted, and more affordable can seem like a dream for some families in the Comox Valley,” said Ronna-Rae Leonard. “With these spaces becoming more affordable for families, we’re getting closer to it being the reality families are looking for.”
Spaces in the $10 a Day ChildCareBC program reduce the average cost of child care from $1,120 a month at participating facilities (for full-time, centre-based infant care) to $200 a month, saving families approximately $920 a month per child on average.
Aspen Grove, operated by Comox Valley Children’s Day Care Society, becomes the seventh child care facility n the Comox Valley to offer $10 a Day spaces. Aspen Grove has 12 spaces for children younger than 36 months, and 16 spaces for children aged 3-5 years.
A total of 197 spaces are now part of the $10 A Day ChildCareBC program in the Comox Valley. Other Comox Valley locations include:
• Tigger Too Early Learning Centre, Comox (12 spaces for children under 36 months old and 23 for children aged 3-5 years);
• Beaufort Children’s Centre, Courtenay (12 spaces for children under 36 months old and 42 for children aged 3-5 years);
• Light House Early Learning Centre, Courtenay (two locations, total of 35 spaces for children aged 3-5 years);

The newly approved $10 a Day spaces are being offered at 27 child care centres throughout B.C., bringing the total number of $10 a Day spaces in B.C. to over 15,000, keeping the province on course to achieve the goal of 20,000 spaces by spring 2026.
