A new reporter has joined the team at the Comox Valley Record.

Scott Strasser has just joined our reporting staff from Calgary. A graduate of the University of Calgary’s communications studies program, Strasser was most recently the news editor of the U of C’s student-run newspaper, the Gauntlet. During his time as an undergraduate student, Strasser also worked for the U of C Dinos athletics program, where he wrote game recaps and press releases for the Dinos website.

While he has been to Vancouver Island before as a tourist, Strasser is excited to make the Valley his home and sample everything that island life has to offer — including kayaking, mountain biking and hiking on his days off. Strasser is also an avid soccer player and is looking forward to living somewhere that offers outdoor soccer year-round.

Strasser also enjoys travelling and learning foreign languages, including German, Spanish and French. He likes watching movies and television, but is an ardent supporter of newspapers and print media.

Strasser will be covering a variety of beats for the Record, including local politics, education and sports. If you have a story idea for Strasser, he can be reached at scott.strasser@comoxvalleyrecord.com, or by calling 250-338-5811, ext. 2306.
