Pedestrian killed after crash involving pickup truck in Victoria

Hillside Avenue shuttered between Douglas and Blanshard streets

A pedestrian was killed in a crash involving a Dodge Ram pick-up on Hillside Avenue early Friday (March 1) afternoon, according to police on the scene.

The crash shut down Hillside Avenue between Douglas and Blanshard streets.

The block was closed at approximately 12:30 p.m. as Victoria police investigated the scene. The Ram pickup could be seen in the middle of the road with a clear bag full of empty cans pinned underneath.

A tarp or blanket could be seen covering something in the eastbound lane of Hillside, right in front of the entrance to Ross Lane. Police confirmed the pedestrian’s body was under the covering.

The coroners service was also on the scene shortly after 2 p.m.

Police expect the area to be closed for several hours.
