A seasick skipper with mechanical problems on a 28-foot sailing boat were towed safely Friday to the Comox Marina.
A Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue from Station 60 at Comox was tasked to assume towing the beautifully restored sailing vessel from the Coast Guard vessel Cape Caution.
The boat’s engine had been cutting out and its lone occupant suffered a severe bout of sea sickness.
On the vessel Bruce Brown II, a marine SAR crew towed the boat in and manouevred through the tight confines of Comox Marina, getting it to the marina’s fuel dock.
The seasick mariner felt much better once secured to land again, and was extremely grateful for the assistance from the Coast Guard and SAR crews.
According to the SAR crew, it was a great example of co-operation between it, local Coast Guard units and Comox Coast Guard Radio.
