TimberWest has agreed to ship a large-dimension log to Cumberland's sister city in Putian, China, where children will participate in a program dubbed A Million and One Acts of Kindness.

TimberWest has agreed to ship a large-dimension log to Cumberland's sister city in Putian, China, where children will participate in a program dubbed A Million and One Acts of Kindness.TimberWest will plant up to one million seedlings for every act of kindness performed. The recipients will carve the log into anything they desire.• • •Mike Williamson is Cumberland's new fire chief, filling a vacancy left by former chief/bylaw enforcement officer Ken McClure, who now works in Golden.Williamson's official title is manager of protective services, from which bylaw enforcement duties will be removed. Bylaw and animal control will be combined to create a three-day per week position. • • • A town hall meeting is scheduled Aug. 29 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at council chambers. • • •Cumberland council approved final reading on a bylaw to hold advance votes Nov. 9 and 12 at the Village office.
