A 28-year-old Ucluelet man is facing several charges after attempting to evade police in the Comox Valley.

RCMP were responding to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in the Duncan Bay main area west of Courtenay on Feb. 9.

Comox Valley RCMP's rural unit located the vehicle and attempted to pull it over. The vehicle fled from police.

The vehicle sped up, going more than twice the speed limit at one point, but was eventually blocked in by two police vehicles on the one-lane Dove Creek bridge.

The man still tried to evade police and rammed an unmarked police vehicle. He struggled during the arrest and is now facing charges of dangerous driving and flight from police.

He has been released on a promise-to-appear-in-court agreement April 7.
