A 50-year-old woman from Union Bay has been identified as the victim in a fatal collision Wednesday on Headquarters Road.

Just before 8 a.m. Nov. 9, a pickup truck, towing an equipment trailer, was south bound on the road when it collided with an east bound four-door sedan driven by the woman, note investigators from the RCMP.

Police note while the investigation is in the preliminary stages, it is believed the driver of the east bound vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign.

The driver of the pickup went to hospital with minor injuries.

Headquarters Road was closed for five-and-a-half hours while the Comox Valley RCMP Municipal Traffic section investigated the collision. Several agencies, including the BC Coroners services were deployed to assist.
