It was a spectacular sight Sunday evening near Mitlenatch Island for Thomas Best, who was on a boat when he spotted a whale and sea lions at play.
Best said the whale showed up while he was checking out the sea lions long enough for him to take out his phone and take some video.
Mitlenatch Island is a small rocky island east of Black Creek in the Strait of Georgia. It features semi-arid conditions caused by its location in the ‘rain shadow’ of Vancouver Island.
