The senior levels of government and the K’ómoks First Nation are continuing to negotiate in an effort to conclude a draft

Agreement-in-Principle under the B.C. treaty process, but further work has yet to be completed, the office of the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development said this week.

Minister John Duncan has no further comment regarding a draft AIP at this time.

The province has concluded negotiating all provincial elements of the AIP and is working to negotiate an Interim Measures Agreement that will increase K’ómoks’ capacity in the shellfish aquaculture industry, says Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation Barry Penner.

He said the three parties are “very close” to concluding a chief negotiators’ understanding on the final package for the AIP.
