Public Notice: Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) Temporary Use Permit 1C 23 Intention to Issue

Notice is hereby given that the CVRD Board proposes to pass a resolution regarding a Temporary Use Permit that would allow a community care facility on a property that is zoned Tourist Commercial Two (TC-2). The permit will allow the existing resort (lodge building) to be used as a mental health and addiction treatment facility to address anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, addiction and burnout, and other stress related disorders. The average length of stay for a client is six weeks. This proposal does not involve any new buildings and the requested permit term is three years. If the permit were to be issued, the applicants would have the option to renew only once for another maximum three year term. The subject property is legally described as Lot A, Block 249, Comox District, Plan 27411, Except Parcel “A” (DD R100949), PID 000-120-456 (8090 and 8100 Forbidden Plateau Road), as shown on the map.

The permit will be considered by the Electoral Areas Services Committee on September 11, 2023. A copy of the application and related information may be viewed at the CVRD office, 770 Harmston Avenue, Courtenay BC between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

The CVRD Board will decide permit issuance at their meeting on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 4:00pm in the CVRD Civic Room.
