48.0 METER TALL WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS
MONOPOLE TOWER INSTALLATION
The proposed installation is composed of a 48.0-meter tall monopole telecommunications tower, including the antennas and a lightning rod. Specifically, TELUS is proposing to replace an existing approximately 15.0 meter tall monopole structure on the subject property with a new 48.0 meter tall tower to expand coverage. TELUS will comply with marking and lighting requirements in accordance with Transport Canada protocols. In order to proceed, the City of Courtenay requires that TELUS apply for a Development Variance Permit (DVP) to vary the allowable height of the proposed tower structure.

Objective: To improve wireless coverage in the southwest side of Courtenay to meet rising demands for wireless services.
Details: An equipment shelter will also be installed at the base of the proposed tower and the site will be surrounded by a security fence with a locked gated access point.
