June 18, 1931 – April 13, 2015
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Victor – husband, dad, nonno, brother, uncle and friend. Victor passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on April 13th, 2015 at the age of 83.
Predeceased by his parents in Italy, Domenico (father) Angela (mother) and brothers Guiseppe and Severino. Victor is lovingly remembered and survived by Rina his wife of 52 years, three children, Steve, Marko and Lisa (Terry). Victor will also be deeply missed by his 4 grandchildren (whom he adored) Sienna,
Andrea, Lucas, Ethan and three sisters, Dina, Maria, Amelia and many nieces and nephews in Italy.
He will also be greatly missed by his beloved dog and companion, Taffy, whom spent most days at his side.
Victor was born June 18, 1931 in Rosà, Vicenza, Italy. He immigrated to Canada in 1956 and lived in Cumberland since then. In his early years, he worked in mining, logging, and construction. He was a hard working individual and employed by Tayco Paving for over 25 years, until he retired in 1995.
Victor’s last wishes were to be cremated and requested no funeral service. Flowers are gratefully declined. The family would welcome donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
We little knew that morning
God was to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.
To Our Nonno (Grandpa)
The love we have for Nonno
Will never fade away.
We’ll think of him, our special friend
Throughout each passing day,
We’ll walk into the room
And see his empty chair;
Although we know he’s resting,
We’ll feel his presence there.
The memories of his laughter,
His warm and loving smile,
His eyes so full of happiness,
His heart that of a child.
Memories are forever
Be they laughter or of tears,
Memories we will treasure
Through all the forthcoming years.
