Born July 15, 1928 - Three Hills, Alberta. Passed away December 26, 2017 - Comox, B.C. in her 90th year. Ann Marie Smith (nee Evans) passed away peacefully on the morning of December 26, at The Views, in Comox.
Mom was the youngest of six children, and was born in the family farmhouse near Three Hills, Alberta, on a hot day in July of 1928.
She is predeceased by her husband George, the love of her life, and her older siblings Harvey, John, Esther and Margery, grandson Tyler and stepson Morris. Mom is survived by her brother Basil and his wife Peggy, who were also her best friends.
She also leaves behind Stepson Ron Smith (Marylynn) of Burnaby, daughter Phyllis (Louis) Ketterer of Comox and son Kevin (Charmaine) Smith of Tsawwassen. Step-grandchildren are Peter Smith and Heather Matthews. Grandchildren are Lee Ketterer (Nicole), Trevor Ketterer (Divine) and Haylee Smith. Great-grandkids are Jeremy Matthews and Ella and Maisy Ketterer.
She had many nieces and nephews as well. Mom loved her family above all else. She had a strong faith and a quiet strength that she displayed right up until her last breath.
Before moving to The Views, Mom lived nearly five years at Casa Loma, and especially treasured her time with Kay, Marion and Bill. They were truly wonderful friends to her.
A celebration of Ann's life was held on Friday, Dec. 29th, 2017 at Comox Valley Funeral Home, Cremation and Reception Centre, Courtenay.
The family would like to thank all of the compassionate and caring staff and volunteers at The Views. You made Mom very content in her last few months, and you treated her (and us) so kindly.
