Suddenly, and with much heartfelt sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Anna Maria Moonen (nee Castermans) of Royston at home in her sleep on February 19, 2018.

Annie, affectionately known by many as "Oma", will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, Theo, and their sons Peter (Shirley), Tom (Tania), Ted (Susie), Rob (Melanie), grandchildren Brent, Jennifer (Chad), Rhianna (Kalan), Brandon (daughter Cierrah), Jordon (Dena), Cam, Elizabeth, Holly, Ryan, Matthew, and Ben, and great grandchildren Lucas and Mia.

Annie was born and raised in Maastricht, Netherlands and married Theo at the young age of 21 before immigrating to Regina, Saskatchewan in 1954. In pursuit of warmer weather and greater opportunities they moved to Vancouver in 1957. In 1973, they left the busy city life to build a new family home and hobby farm on Royston Road, where they have lived ever since.

Annie was an incredibly smart and strong woman with many wonderful talents. She had a quick wit, was an excellent conversationalist on many subjects, and excelled at needlecrafts such as knitting and sewing; producing beautiful quality treasures until her failing eyesight forced her to give up such hobbies.

She enjoyed baking and cooking, especially with her grandchildren who were the light and joy in her life. She was proud to be a Great-Oma to Jennifer's children Lucas and new baby Mia and was happiest in her recent days during visits with them.

There will be a celebration of Annie's life at the Filberg Hall in Courtenay on Saturday, March 10, 2018 from1:00- 3:00 pm.
