December 12, 1935 - January 16, 2022
We are sad to announce the passing of Anna Martin (Dean). She is survived by her daughter Terry (Randy), Tanya (Dog) and Stan (Lenore) and other family members in Alberta and Nova Scotia.
Anna was born in Newton Mills, Nova Scotia. As a young woman, she met Corporal Mel Horsman and they were married in July 1956.
In 1966, she began studies in Home Nursing in the St. John's Ambulance Brigade in Nova Scotia. In 1971, Anna and Mel and their children relocated to the Comox Valley. A few years later, they went their separate ways, but Anna remained in the Comox Valley.
While working at CBF Comox, she met Orlin Martin, a civilian who worked in Base maintenance. They were married in July 1995, and they remained married until Orlin's death in May 2017. Shortly thereafter, Anna moved in Comox Valley Seniors Village and as her health continued to deteriorate, she moved into Glacier View Lodge where she remained for the rest of her life.
While living in the Valley, Anna became a committed member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She made beautiful flower arrangements for the altar for services and special events and was also a member of the choir for many years. She made many friends at the Church as well as through her volunteer work with the Sonshine Lunch Club.
She also possessed artistic talent which was demonstrated in the painting of the Argus aircraft which she donated to CFB Comox.
A celebration of life will be held on a later date when it is safe to do so.
