(Arthur) John Grant

Feb 23, 1926-Feb 24, 2004

Born in Camp 3 near Headquarters, John passed away suddenly at home one day after his 78th birthday.

Predeceased by his daughters Jo-Anne and Gail, John is survived by Lucy, his loving wife of 57 years. He will be forever remembered by daughters Susan (Ramu) Ramu, Lynne (Steve) Blackburn and grandchildren John (Danielle) Stich, Wayne (Tanya) Stich, Glen (Chris) Stich, Christy (Jason) Pasanen, and Grant Mellin. John’s 9 great grandchildren, Loni, Jessica, Kayla, Jerrica, Joel, Travis, Carly, Ryan and Ella will miss his gentle smiles and hugs.

Aunty Annie, brothers Hugh (Allison) Grant, Donald (Shirley) Grant along with family and friends too numerous to mention will remember his quiet way of constantly helping others. His heart was as big as he was - a strong, loyal, “always there” friend.

A descendant of one of the Comox Valley’s founding families; John called the Comox Valley home for all of his life. After two years of military service during WWII, he worked for 31 years for Dairyland.

John loved the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, and boating, but also enjoyed curling, square dancing or simply watching the ocean out his front window.

This warm, generous soul is now at peace and smiling once again.

All are invited to a celebration of this fine man’s life 1pm, Saturday February 28th, 2004 at Courtenay Fish and Game - 3780 Comox Logging Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

“Rather than be sad that he is gone, let us be glad that he was here.”
