1913 – 2007
Betsy (Bessie) passed away peacefully on December 29, 2007 at Trillium Lodge, Parksville.
One of 14 children of Malinda and John MacArthur, Betsy was born February 16, 1913 in Clair, Sask. She married Joseph Christof December 25, 1934 in Chicago.
A wonderful mother and homemaker she will be sadly missed by all family members. Survived by three daughters: Malinda (Dale) Wiedenman, Joan (Gary) Whitmore and Connie (Bob) Rogoyin. Her seven grandchildren are Paulette (Jim) Bulley, Joseph (Wendy) Wiedenman, Daliah (Daniel) Lundquist, Carla (Marty) Dumont, Edward (Tina) Whitmore, Shloe (Barry) Kerness and Leah Rogovin. There are 15 great-grandchildren: Brian, Kyle, Tyler, Darren, Michael, Maddy, Cole, Ryan, Josh, Colin, Jordan, Lauren, Emily, Katelyn and Brenna. Also surviving Betsy is her sister Rhoda Carr in Michigan. Predeceased by her husband, Joseph Christof in 1987 and 13 sisters and brothers: Catherine, Malinda, Margaret, Leslie, Ray, Reg, Campbell, Bill, Nell, Gilbert and three infants who died at birth including Betsy’s twin sister.
Known as a ray of sunshine at Trillium Lodge, Betsy was happy and contented living there keeping in good health the whole time.
A Memorial Service will be held at Comox Valley Funeral Home in Courtenay Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a charity of your choice.
