April 5, 1933 - January 26, 2022
Bozidar "Bill" Malecic passed away January 26, 2022, after a brief illness.
Bill was born April 5, 1933, in Mace, Croatia. After completing his service in the Yugoslavian Navy, he earned a master's degree in Electro-Mechanics.
Adventure called, and in May 1961, Bill immigrated to Canada. After landing in Quebec, he made his way to Winnipeg, where he put down roots and sent word for his wife, Slava (Sylvia) and infant son to join him.
Bill worked for Globelite batteries, Ernie's Auto Electric, and the CN Railway before opening his own repair shop (Polson Auto Electric). Later, he expanded his business, opening an ROCO gas station offering full mechanical and electrical repairs.
Seeking more adventure, Bill continued life's journey, heading west to Courtenay, BC. For Bill, the natural beauty of the Comox Valley was paradise. Settling in, he once again called on his family to make the move.
Before opening his own shop, Bill's Auto Electric, Bill worked at Kirk's Auto Electric Ltd. He managed the family run Comox Valley Auto Electric Ltd. until retiring in 2006.
Bill, an avid hunter and fisher, lived life large. His family, friends, employees, and customers were important to him, and he loved socializing with them. He and Sylvia hosted many a memorable pig roast and party.
Aloha Bill. You will be missed!
