Charles Dixon Dove, born May 30, 1921 went to be with the Lord on December 19, 2012. Charles is survived by his wife Etta (Henrietta); daughter Bonnie Ann; and sons Charles (Lynn) and Murray (Tracy) Dove; stepdaughters Louise Roy (Kevin), Laura Wasylishen (Rick), Carol Pirie (Gordon) and Cathy Keating (Jimmay) and family friends Serge Roy and Ian Zaharko, as well as grandchildren; Daniel (Colleen), David and Dane (Jessica) Miskowicz, Laurelle (Matt) Rollings, Brett and Carmen Dove, Spencer (Sabine), Miles and Melissa Dove, Shaun and Cherie White, Sarah Roy, Amanda, Jennifer, Nicole Wasylishen, Reid and Rachael Pirie and numerous great-grandchildren. Charles is also survived by his sister Ann.

Charles is predeceased by his parents William and Eva Dove, his first wife Laura (nee Watson) in 1981 and sister Louise.

Charles was born and grew up on a farm near Speers, Saskatchewan and served in the Canadian Armed Forces (Airforce) through many postings including from Saskatoon and Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan , Calgary, Vulcan and Edmonton, Alberta, Trenton and Ottawa Ontario, Baden Soeliingen, Germany, and North Africa before his final assignment to Comox, British Columbia in 1966 where at the rank of Squadron Leader (Major) he served as Senior Technical Officer for 407 Squadron working with the Neptune and Argus aircraft when Charles retired from the Airforce in 1971, he embarked on a second career in Real Estate in the Courtenay/Comox area.

Charles was an avid golfer and played regularly even to the spry age of ninety years old! He was a well-respected man in his community and church; a great man of faith, a caring, loving husband, father and grandfather. He leaves behind a Godly legacy and he will be greatly missed by his friends and the entire Dove and Keating families.

A Celebration of Charles’ Life will be held at Courtenay Baptist Church, 2963 Lake Trail Road at 1 PM on Thursday, January 3, 2013. If wishing, donations can be made in memory of Charles to the Christian Blind Mission Canada or the Salvation Army.
