It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our "Rock," Chris Robert Pys. His life ended tragically on Monday, April 2nd in an MVA while on his way to work.

Chris was a devoted, loving dad to his two sons. He was to be married to his partner of 21 years Chantal in July. He lived his entire life in the Comox Valley, almost all of it on the Pys' family farm. He attended Tsolum, Courtenay Junior and Vanier schools. He worked in road construction on the inland Island highway and for many years as a faller. Chris, along with his brother, ran a cattle operation on the Pys farm. He loved going camping as a kid as well as playing hockey, baseball, and skiing and made sure his sons had the same opportunities. Chris coached hockey when he could find the spare time. Chris' persona was larger than life. He would be the first one there if anyone needed a hand. He loved his family, his farm, and his many friends throughout the valley and beyond.

Chris will be welcomed into Heaven by his uncle Chris, aunty Darlene McKay, Grampa Bob McKay, and Oma and Opa Pys.

He will be forever missed by his mom Donna (Mark), his dad Neil (Brenda), brother Mike, sister Darlene (Jason), fiance Chantal Frappier, sons Quinn and Liam, Grandma Marion McKay, the Frappier family, his uncle Kevin, Aunt Yo, cousins Ashley and Corey, other aunts and uncles and members of his extended family as well as all his many close friends.

We would like to thank the people who first helped Chris at the scene as well as the first responders and all of the healthcare professionals at the Campbell River Hospital for doing everything they could for Chris.

We would also like to thank everyone who contributed to the Go Fund Me page for his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Sports Centre on 3001 Vanier Drive Saturday, April 21st at 6:00 pm.

A Trust Fund has been set up for Quinn and Liam at the Coastal Community Credit Union.
