In Loving Memory ~
Darlene Reynolds passed away peacefully at Comox Valley Seniors Village, on March 14, 2023, comforted by her loving children. Darlene was born September 1936 in Vancouver, B.C. and spent her formative years in Great Central, then later Port Alberni.
It was as a young girl in Great Central that she met and later married her loving husband, Bob. Darlene was a master knitter, sewer, and baker. She excelled in whatever she put her creative hands to.
Darlene led a life of service, beginning at the age of 18. As a Brownie Leader until her 80th birthday when she hung up her apron at St. Joseph's "The Views". In 1978 Darlene was the recipient of the National Service Award. The Governor General of Canada honoured her many years of service with St. John's Ambulance and made the presentation in Ottawa.
Those who worked with Darlene still speak of her endless energy, compassion, and empathy.
Darlene is survived by her children Cathy (Rick) Cross, Theresa (Don) Bracken, Bob Reynolds, and Maureen (Pat) Newton. Also left behind, are the Apples of her Eye, 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
While our grief is as heavy as the darkest moments of the night, the gifts given to us by Darlene shine bright as the brilliant stars above. With time and the memories of our happiest days with Darlene, we will be sure to overcome our tears.
The family would like to thank Dr. Matous, the nurses, and the staff at Comox Valley Seniors Village. Also, a GIGANTIC "Thank You and Hug" to all the Care Aides. We now know that you are "Earth Angels".
Darlene requested we invite friends and family to gather on Friday, April 14 at noon for Mass at Christ the King Church, 1599 Tunner Road, Courtenay. Mass will be followed by an informal gathering to share stories and memories of a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, and to honour Darlene's memory, we ask that you extend a helping hand to someone in need.
