February 14, 1939 - January 7, 2019
Our amazing, beautiful, courageous mother Donna passed away peacefully at the North Island Hospital in Courtenay on January 7th, 2019 with her three loving daughters by her side.

Donna was born in Rose Valley, Saskatchewan on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1939 to Leonard and Catherine Jacobs. She was the youngest of six sisters - Ethel, Betty, Marj, Isabel and Lenora.

She graduated from Kitsilano High School in 1957 and went on to train as a nurse at St. Paul's Hospital in North Vancouver.

After obtaining her Registered Nurses degree in 1960, she had the wonderful opportunity to travel with her mother to Hong Kong and worked at the Matilda War Memorial Hospital for six months. She returned home in 1961 and married her first husband Richard (Dick) Ramsden. Together they had 3 daughters, Margot, Lori and Caryn.

Donna was reacquainted with her high school sweetheart George Storey (Chip) Wilson at their 30th high school reunion (thanks in part to Donna's daughter Caryn). They were married for over 27 years until Chip's recent passing only six short weeks ago on December 12th, 2018.

Many of you may have met her through her work as an insurance paramedical nurse or through her many volunteer activities. She was a wonderful role model. She gave of herself through many years of volunteering with the Junior League of Calgary, the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary and most recently with the Sunshine Lunch Club. She was also the past Captain of the Crown Isle Golf Course Ladies Club. Her many friends will always remember her for her strength of character, her determination, her grace, the Crown Isle cocktail parties she hosted and her fabulous sense of humour.

Donna is survived by her daughters Margot (David), Lori (Ken), Caryn (Jim), step-daughter Joanna (Jason), step-son Christopher (Moriah), grandchildren Emily, Sydney, Jaime, Hayley, Justin, Cassia, Keegan, Brayden, Lleyton, Kaylie and Jayna, sisters Betty Harrower and Lenora (Harry) Phillips and many dear nieces and nephews.

There are simply not enough words to convey our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Carol Galway, and the nurses in Day Medicine and Cancer Care who she referred to as her Hospital family.

She will forever remain in our hearts.

Memorial tributes in Donna's name can be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (Ilscanada.org).

A celebration of Donna's life will be held on Saturday, May 4 at 2 pm in the Clubhouse at the Crown Isle Resort, 399 Clubhouse Drive, Courtenay, B.C. V9N 9G3.
