Edith McNish passed away on March 20, 2008 at the age of 100. Edith was born in Courtenay on June 4, 1907, and she was a treasured link to the pioneer days in the Comox Valley. Her loving family rejoice in a life well lived.
Edith was a teacher, school trustee, community worker, dynamite lady, hospital volunteer, bridge player and friend to many. She will be lovingly remembered by her 3 daughters: Jean (Al) Parker of Port Alberni, Fay (Bob) Logan of Campbell River, Terry Lewchuk of Duncan; 2 sons: John (Grace) McNish of Prince Rupert and Ross (Sharon) McNish of Prince Rupert; her 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren: also by 1 sister, Alice Scott of Courtenay; sister-in-law, Patti Crocket and brother-in-law, Roy Jacques and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Fred, her parents John and Winnifred Crockett, sisters: Barbara, Margaret Pearse, Jean Berkley, Dorothy Mackie and Norah Jacques; brothers: James, John and Fred and by her son-in-law, Tony Lewchuk.
A Celebration of Edith's life will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Piercy's - Mt. Washington Funeral Home with Chaplain Gordon Carter officiating. In lieu of flowers donations to the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation, 2137 Comox Avenue, Comox, BC V9M 1P2 would be appreciated.
