November 9, 1925 - April 2, 2024

In Loving Memory ~

Grant was born November 9th, 1925, and passed away peacefully on April 2nd, 2024, at the North Island Hospital just shy of his 99th birthday.

Grant was born in Morell East, Prince Edward Island into a humble farming family. With 5 sisters to help feed and being the only boy, it often fell upon Grant to hunt and fish for enough food to feed his family.

In spite of this, he put himself through Acadia University and then on to Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan where he completed a 4-year course in 3 years and graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He was also a member of their Engineering Honour Society, Tau Beta Pi and also a Life Member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta.

Grant excelled in sales and became their Senior Vice-President of Alchem Inc. and President of their Western division in Edmonton, Alberta.

Throughout his life, Grant was a champion golfer and curler and was instrumental in establishing the Glen Eden Ski Hill in Milton, Ontario. He also enjoyed fishing, skiing and hunting (ducks and geese) all over Canada and Europe.

Grant is survived by his loving wife Joan, with whom he had 50 wonderful years of companionship, devotion and laughter, as they loved to travel, golf and curl together. Grant will be lovingly remembered by his 3 daughters; Tracy (Wayne). Terry and Jill Compton and by his grandchildren; Odile, Sebastian of Ontario and his sister Elizabeth of Vancouver.

Also many nieces, nephews and cousins in Ontario. He shared his love of nature with his daughters on many camping trips throughout North America. As a volunteer, he was quite interested in the Salmon Enhancement Program

There will be no formal service but there will be a celebration of life this summer in Ontario and P.E.I. for family and friends.
