Elizabeth Charlotte Cherry
November 15, 1920 – August 10, 2007
Cherry, older daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Aitken and niece of the late Alexander Aitken, passed away on October 10, 2007 at the Qualicum Gardens care home in Qualicum, BC.
She is survived by her sister, Catherine Mary (Mamie) Aitken.
Cherry was born, raised and educated in the Comox Valley including one year at Victoria College. She was employed with the Unemployment Insurance Commission at Courtenay and Nanaimo, BC, retiring in 1960. She also worked with the local Canadian Pacific Express and the government telegraph office. She was a charter member of the Soroptimist Club of Courtenay, a member of the Amateur Radio Club and the Filberg Seniors. She loved golf, swimming and music. She will be missed lovingly by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Cherry’s life will be held at Piercy’s Funeral Home, 440 England Avenue, Courtenay on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Cherry’s memory to the SPCA or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
