Lewis - Elizabeth Margaret “Betty” Lewis of Courtenay, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 16th, 2004 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was born in Comox and lived in the Valley all of her life; since 1962, on her farm on Headquarters Road. Predeceased by her husband Clyde; sister Alice MacDonald; brother-in-law Bill MacDonald; sister Dorothy Hurford; brother Jim Hurford; brother and sister-in-law Clarence and Lil Lewis; sister-in-law Margaret Lewis; sisters and brothers-in-law: Sis and Reg Longland, Art and Lottie Longland; brother-in-law Allan Loveridge and sister-in-law Irene Hurford. She is survived and will be lovingly missed by her sons: John (Mary) Lewis and Richard (Sonia) Lewis; grandchildren: John Jr. (Yolanda), Robert (Lisa), Cathy (Darrell Ostgard), Melanie (Jason Charles), and James (Ashley Frame); great-grandchildren: Page, Drew, Hope, Shyanne, Jenna, Ryan, Cameron, Nolan and Nicholas; brothers: Frank Hurford, Jock (Kay) Hurford and Herbie (Evelyn) Hurford; sister-in-law Audrey Loveridge & family; brother-in-law Les Lewis; sister-in-law Mabel Hurford; and many nieces and nephews. Betty will be remembered as a longtime resident of Cumberland, a true sports enthusiast, especially basketball and carpet bowling, who loved watching her sons and grandsons play basketball and fastball. A Celebration of her life will take place on Wednesday, December 22nd at 1:00pm from the Florence Filberg Centre, Courtenay.
