Ervin passes away in North Island Hospital, Comox Valley on 13, March 2018 at age 85. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth who passed away on March 7, 2018. He was born, in Clearland Nova Scotia, the oldest of 6 children of Russell Cross and Laura Hirtle.
He is survived by sons Daryl Cross (Karen), Brent Cross (Mona) and daughter Linnea Cross (Knut); his grandchildren Jennifer Reesor & Robert Cross and 4 great grandchildren: Lindsay, Avarie, Jaxson and Eli.
He is also survived by his brothers Laurie Cross (Ruth) and Wayne Cross (Mary); and sisters Carol Olding; Dale Edwards (Clayton) and Amy Seaboyer (Bob).
After graduating from high school in Toronto, Ontario, Ervin joined the military attended RMC Kingston where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. He became a fighter pilot and was stationed in Germany and France. It was in Germany where he met Ruth a nurse. They were married in France they returned Canada where they lived in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Ontario, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Northwest Territories and British Columbia.
After retirement they travelled by car across Canada many times to visit friends and family.
He was loved by all who met him.
He was cremated. A Memorial Service was held on Monday, March 19, 2018 at Comox Valley Funeral Home, Cremation and Reception Centre, Courtenay.
