Frances "Bunty"

Frances Patricia "Bunty" Hincks passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at St. Joseph's ECU Comox on November 1, 2008 at the age of 91 years. Lovingly remembered by her son Donald, daughter Sheila McCutcheon (Phil) of Campbell River, son Harvey (Hannah) of Courtenay; 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her son James in March 1972 and her beloved husband Kenneth in April 2005 after 64 wonderful years. Born in Victoria February 22, 1917, Bunty attended Buckingham House Girls School in Oak Bay and Business School before joining the Junior Red Cross, working in both Victoria and Vancouver. She was a wonderful homemaker and worked tirelessly beside her husband in the fruit and vegetable gardens of "Holmwood" Langford. Many hours were devoted to the W.A. to Langford Volunteer Fire Department and St. Matthew's Church Ladies Guild. Bunty and Ken moved to Courtenay in 1989 to be closer to their family which was of utmost importance to them. During the last few years, she especially enjoyed her twice weekly visits to the Cumberland Adult Care Program, where she made many friends. Her quick wit and smile was enjoyed by all that she met. Memorial Service will be held at St. John the Divine Anglican Church, 579 - 5th St., Courtenay on Friday, November 14, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Father George Daley officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Canadian Diabetes Society.
