Frances Golden passed away with Marie and John at her side October 10, 2008, ten days after her 94th birthday. She will be dearly missed by her daughter Marie Helgason, son-in-law John Helgason, grandson John Morton of Kelowna, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren Shauna and Gerald Arsenault, Tom, John and Erik of Victoria; Lisa and Troy Thomas, Kaylee, Brianna, and Bryce Toth of Victoria; Jeff Helgason and family of Toronto, David Helgason and family of Victoria, Shirley and Larry Wragg of Thunder Bay; sisters Rose Welder of Kelowna, Ann Welch of Kelowna, Monica Hill of Victoria, Ronnie (Sandy) Kennedy of Burnaby; nephew Rick and Connie Welsh of Victoria and many nieces and nephews.
Frances was predeceased by husband Charles Golden, loving niece Cheech Hoffman, brothers Raymond, Bill, Gene, Joe, Gerry, Walter and Cyril, sisters Irene, Clara, Mary, Rita, and Margaret.
Frances was a quiet, soft-spoken, gentle and kind woman who loved to play Scrabble and Crib, but could be found doing crossword puzzles by the hour. Upon retiring from a career in nursing she discovered fishing, camping, ice fishing, snowmobiles and trapping. She loved being one with nature and cherished those memories always. She took pride in taking care of a home and all who dwelled within.
The family wishes to express a very heartfelt thank you to the extraordinary thoughtful and caring staff of Laurel Lodge and Dr. Mark Woldnik. We also wish to thank our friends for all the kindnesses and help they have given through the last few months. A special thank you to Judy Ford who shared her time, energy, and compassion with mom.
There will be a Memorial Service at Comox Valley Funeral Home, Cremation and Reception Centre, 1101 Ryan Rd., Saturday, October 25th at 11 am.
