Gilda McDonald

Gilda Ernestine McDonald (nee Pelletier), born August 27, 1926 at home in the beautiful Qu’Appelle Valley, Saskatchewan and passed away peacefully March 12, 2015. Gilda married Campbell McDonald February 2, 1946, after he was honourably discharged from the

Canadian Army. Predeceased by daughter Dolores Gilda McDonald December 3, 1993, husband Campbell McDonald March 17, 1995, brothers George and Charlie and sister Martha. Survived by sons Larry (Darlene), Gerry (Zellah) and Murdoch and daughter Linda Loft. Also grandchildren Michael, Kelly, Cristi, Kayla, Sherwin, Thomas, Sarah, Jerry and Katherine as well as five great grandchildren. Also survived by sisters Margaret, Bertha, Isabel, Mary, Harriet and Madeline.

Shortly after Larry’s birth in Regina, they moved to the Comox Valley where Gerry, Murdoch and Dolores were born. After living in Victoria, where Linda joined the family, and Vancouver for short periods, they once again returned to the beautiful Comox Valley.

Ma lived a full happy life and her door was always open with a plate of fresh baked cookies on the table.

No service by request. There will be a small family gathering to inter Gilda’s ashes with those of husband Campbell in the Memorial Wall at the Courtenay Civic Cemetery at a later date.
