February 7, 1947 - July 22, 2020
Glen Kenneth Parsons, age 73, passed unexpectedly in his home in the Comox Valley on July 22, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Maureen Parsons; daughter Sunny Parsons (Trenton Dean) and son Benjamin Parsons; his step-children, Kylie Pullin (Trevor) and Ryan Pullin (Trish); his sister Gail Williams; and his grand-children Esme Dean, Bryson and Korbin Pullin.
Glen grew up in Burnaby and received his B.A in geography and B.Ed at Simon Fraser University. He began his teaching career at Prince Rupert Senior Secondary School in 1972 and moved to the island in 1975, where he continued his teaching career at Robb Road and Highland Secondary School. During his career, Glen enjoyed many years of coaching senior boys' volleyball and sharing his passion for geography and history in the classroom, until he retired in 2003.
Glen was an avid sportsman, traveler and gardener. He began his lifelong love of golf at the Vancouver Golf Club as a junior golfer, where his parents were members for many years. He continued golfing throughout his lifetime; he cherished the community he shared at Glacier Greens and the opportunities to travel with his friends to golf across the province, Scotland and Ireland.
He loved the strategy of bridge and curling, which he enjoyed throughout his life. Glen and Maureen shared a passion for gardening around their home and produced beautiful bouquets for Guthrie Road Gardens. They traveled abroad together, including New Zealand, Europe, and Mexico.
Most importantly, Glen was a kind and loving soul and we will carry him forever in our hearts. A gathering in Glen's honour will be held for family and friends at a later date.
