Gordon James Pearse “Gordy” of Cumberland passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 13, 2002, aged 70.
Predeceased by his parents, Walter and Ellen Pearse, his brother Ben, his sister-in-law Merillee, and by his father-in-law Don Cofield. Gordy is survived by his loving wife Donna (married 36 years), by his daughter Rhonda (Byron) Ward and granddaughter Erin of Duncan. Also survived by his mother-in-law Lorna Cofield of Cumberland; his brothers: Roy Pearse of Courtenay, Norm (Irene) Pearse of Honeymoon Bay, and Lorne (Maureen) Pearse of Cedar; and by his sisters: Nadine (Bob) Banks of Cumberland, Phyllis (Ken) Logan of Honeymoon Bay, and Doris (Bill) Slaughter of Courtenay; and by his sister-in-law Evelyn Pearse of “Victoria; his nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Gordy lived in Cumberland his entire life and was well known. He was a member of Branch 28, Cumberland Royal Canadian Legion. He loved to sing and play piano, camping trips, his gardens and time with his family. Special thanks to the Cumberland Ambulance Service, Dr. Gino Tancon and to Keith, Marla, Rae and Glen for their help and support.
A Memorial Tea for Gordy will be held on Saturday, September 21st. at 1:00 p.m. at the Cumberland Legion.
