August 31, 1927 – September 25, 2016

Hazel passed away peacefully at the age of 89.

Predeceased by her husband Leslie Edward Clarke on November 23, 2012 and mourned by all the rest of the family. Mum will be sadly missed by daughters Hilary (Mike) and Janet (Eric. Nana will be missed by grandchildren Andrew, Chris (Emily), Cortnie (Gary), David (Joy) and Lesley as well as great granddaughter Isabella.

Hazel was born and raised in Enfield, Middlesex (North London). She was educated at Enfield County Grammar School for Girls. Later when she was working in an office she became pen pals with a young R.A.F. Cadet, future pilot. Les was that pilot and in 1943 they met for the first time in London's Trafalgar Square during his first leave. That's where and when a relationship started that in 1946 became a loving marriage. Two daughters followed and subsequently five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

In 1957 the family of four immigrated to Victoria, B.C. Where we lived in Fairfield, near the park and the waterfront for 19 years; in Cordova Bay for 10 years; and in Water's Edge Village for 23 years.

Mum dabbled in real estate for 8 years and she traveled, a lot. She has been to Europe, the Far East, New Zealand, Cuba, Hawaii and Arizona. She's played the slots in Reno and Las Vegas. She's walked the River Walk in San Antonio, Texas and luxuriated in a memorable concert by Lena Horne and Tony Bennett in Los Angeles.

Hazel had many friends in Water's Edge Village where her busy life included a lot of tennis, golf, exercising, bingo and many social events. Eventually she moved to Beechwood in Sidney and then, finally, to Casa Loma in Courtenay.

By request there will be no service and cremation has taken place. Her ashes will join Dad's in Victoria.
