Jun 4, 1922 - Jan 27, 2018
Hazel passed away on January 27th at home in Comox, BC. She will be dearly missed by her 4 children (Dale, Ralph (Alvina), June (Chuck) and Carol (Paul), 8 grandchildren (Lora, Nathan, Sharon, Steven, Jodi, Julie, Michelle and Nicole) and 10 great- grandchildren.

She is pre-deceased by her husband David (1998), sister Mabel (1991), brother Clifford (2017), and daughter- in-law, Joan (1999).

Hazel was born in Manitoba in 1922, to Horace & Evelyn Ayer, with a younger sister and brother soon following. She married David in 1949, and they moved with their 3 children to the Comox Valley in 1960. They were blessed shortly after with the birth of another daughter.

She helped her husband run a farm and plant nursery, and enjoyed traveling throughout Canada and the US, and overseas to Great Britain. She approached life with a "can do" attitude and taught her children to do the same.

Hazel always had time for people, as well as an encouraging word or note. As she travelled with her husband she made friends wherever she went. She gave generously of what she had, and never hesitated to invite friends or new acquaintances for a meal or a night.

She never lost her wittiness, sense of humour, or feistiness! She loved people, animals, flowers, and beauty of all kinds.

Hazel was committed to her church, loved Jesus, and was a prayer warrior - praying regularly for her family and friends.

Hazel has left behind a wonderful heritage of generosity, prayer, wisdom and love. She will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Black Creek Community Church, 1:30 pm, Saturday, February 17th.

All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Camp Bob/Campfire Ministries.
