Born 27th August 1929 in Indonesia.
At the outbreak of war, he was held prisoner until the liberation in 1945. John died in Courtenay on the 28th June 2020.
Predeceased by his parents Elizabeth and Anton Van der Horst.
Survived by his wife of 65 years, Lily. Son Tony (Linda), grandchildren Tanya, Shannon, Johnathon, also their mother Christine. Daughter Kathy (Keith) granddaughter Giselle. John also had 5 great-grandchildren. Survived by two sisters in Holland Elizabeth and Ank.
