October 19, 1936 – April 1, 2016

Our warm and caring mother passed into the Lord’s loving arms after a steadfast year-long fight with cancer. She was an extremely devoted wife to Gerald, following him from one military posting to another with never a single complaint. They fell in love almost from the first date and were completely devoted throughout their 59 years of marriage. Four children kept her very busy along with her volunteer work (helping with the MS Society, visiting the elderly in Extended Care units, helping with activities with the mentally challenged). She was a member of the Officers’ Wives Club and an avid bridge player. Janice loved music; achieving her Toronto Conservatory of Music as a solo piano performer in 1956. She passed this great love of music onto her family. She made it a point to get to know you, genuinely caring, even when she became ill. Her personality brought cheer to everyone in her hospital room and the staff.

Janice was predeceased by her parents Ena and Wilfred Marks of Winnipeg, Manitoba. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Gerald Joseph Takach of Comox, B.C.; sons Glenn Robert Takach (Debora Ferrero) of Surrey, B.C., Philip James Takach (Carla) of Campbell River, B.C.; daughters Lori Anne Takach (Douglas St. Michel) of Victoria, B.C., Susan Geraldine Takach (Randy Pabsdorf) of Victoria, B.C.; grandchildren Trevor, Olivia, Tamara, Jonathan and Sara; nieces and nephews Jamie, Julie, Joel and Barrie.

A celebration of Janice’s life will be held at Comox Valley Funeral Home, Cremation and Reception Centre, 1101 Ryan Rd, Courtenay on Saturday, April 9th, 2016 at 11:00am.

Flowers gratefully declined. The family would appreciate a donation in Janice’s name to one of your favourite charities.
