June 14, 1947 - March 27, 2020
Jean passed away March 27th, 2020 at the North Island Hospital Comox Valley in Courtenay.
Born as a Canadian abroad in Glasgow Scotland June 14th, 1947, Jean was the proud offspring of her War bride mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Morrison and father William (Bill) Morrison - Lance Corporal.
She grew up in Winnipeg and graduated from The University of Manitoba with a Home Economics degree before, among other things, instructing at the Olds Agricultural College in Alberta.
Jean is survived by her husband Stuart Swain, sister Elizabeth Wiles of Winnipeg and children Kelly Swain of Union Bay and Roxane Bernhard of Guelph Ontario as well as their spouses Courtenay Johnson and Jean Paul Bernhard. Jean and Stuart have two much adored granddaughters; Ayla and Annike Bernhard. Jean was also very close to Stuart's sister Shauna and her husband Corrie deKluyver of Parksville.
She had a wide circle of friends gleaned from settling in several different cities across Canada. Jean loved to talk about families and their kids and could remember the details years later. She kept in touch with dozens. She was kind hearted, always ready to listen, she had enjoyed winter sports, dinghy sailing and lengthy walks in spite of her allergy induced asthma. Jean was an active member of Probus Strathcona and the d'Esterre Senior Centre Line dancing group.
Lost to Cancer; Jean was my Love, my Partner, my Friend for 51 years. She will be sorely missed. XOXO Stuart
A Celebration of Life will take place after the Pandemic is over. Donations to the B.C. Cancer Agency would be appreciated.
